AFTER ASSURING TODD and John that Rose was fine, she relayed her brother’s message to Todd. “I’m not sure why he needs to talk to you, but it must be something about Rose cause he couldn’t tell me with her in the car.”

Todd recalled an unread text message on his cell phone. The message was from Tyler. He was relieved when he read the message.

“Would it be possible for me to ride to Daphne with Tyler tomorrow?” he asked his wife.

Once he went over the details of Tyler’s message, Makenzie agreed it was a wonderful surprise.

“She’ll absolutely love it. We’ll be fine, dear. I think Mary Katherine and I’ll go on out to the cabin and get some of the decorations done. Dad will be fine. We can go when he lays down for his nap.”

With everyone’s plans set, Tyler focused on helping Rose settle in for the night. Dr. Ray’s words echoed through his head. He decided to take a quick shower while she drifted off to sleep.

Rose listened to the water running. She imagined what could have happened that night. She couldn’t let all the drama of arranged relationships get to her. In only two days, she would come face to face with a woman who she shared a special bond. But she couldn’t forget this same woman was responsible for bringing life to the person who wanted her dead. Could they pick up where they left off? Or would they be total strangers again?
